Pinellia polysaccharide activates PI3K/AKT signaling pathway and regulates the expression of airway smooth muscle related apoptosis molecules in airway remodeling in rats with cough variant asthma

Purpose: To investigate the effect of Pinellia polysaccharide on airway remodeling in cough-variant asthmatic rats, and involvement PI3K/AKT signal route process.
 Methods: Seventy-five Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were assigned to 5 groups: blank control, model, low-dose (100 mg/kg), medium-dose (200 mg/kg) high-dose (400 groups, each with 15 rats. Immunoblot assay was employed measure relative protein concentrations phosphorylated kinase B (p-AKT), phosphoinositide-3-kinase (p-PI3K), MMP-9, lymphocytes expression cell tumor-2, B-lymphoma-2 gene-related promoter (Bad), Fas, Caspase-3.
 Results: The levels Wat, Wam, Wai, p-AKT, p-PI3K, MMP-9 bcl-2 model group significantly higher than those control (p < 0.05). However, these factors up-regulated, levels, but lower Bad, Fas Caspase3 corresponding Moreover, differed amongst given 3 doses 0.05).
 Conclusion: mitigates asthma through stimulation route, regulation expressions smooth muscle-related apoptotic molecules (Bad, Caspase-3), slowing down inflammation. Thus, this is a potential agent for management cough variant asthma.
